Republic of Congo (in the process of being formalised)

On 09 December 2023, during COP28 in Dubai, the Republic of the Congo signed a Country Package for Forests, Nature and Climat (CP) with several institutions, including France (Declaration signed).

OFVi is positioned to support the scientific and capacity-building aspects in the Congo. The ambitions of the initiative correspond more specifically to the first component of the CP: "Strengthen the material, financial and human capacities of scientific research at national level to better understand and develop the carbon resources of vegetation and soils, and the country's biodiversity, with specific attention paid to mangroves, peat bogs and natural forests".

A national workshop was held in Brazzaville in July 2024 to co-construct the scientific roadmap and identify the needs and partnerships that could be forged between scientists and institutions (Workshop report).
