Pl@ntNet training continues in Congo

Four days of classroom theory training (31 October, 2, 5 and 6 November) and three days of practical training in the field (4, 7 and 8 November) were organised to help participants get to grips with the tool. A total of 122 people took part, most of them students or teacher-researchers from Marien Ngouabi University (Faculty of Science, École Normale Supérieure and École Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie et de Foresterie) and Denis Sassou N'Guesso University (Institut Supérieur des Sciences Géographiques, Environnementales et de l'Aménagement).

During the first day of training, other organisations such as the Agence Congolaise de la Faune et des Aires Protégées (ACFAP), the Herbier National du Congo, the Centre National d'Inventaire et d'Aménagement des Ressources Forestières et Fauniques (CNIAF), the Ministère de l'Economie Forestière (MEF), the Ministère de l'Environnement, du Développement Durable et du Bassin du Congo (MEDDBC) and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) were also represented.

The platform was presented on 6 November to young students working for the preservation and sustainable management of forest resources in Congo, as part of the third edition of Forestival Brazzaville, under the direction of France Volontaires Congo in partnership with the European Union delegation. 

During this second training session in Brazzaville, 114 Pl@ntnet accounts were created and 832 observations corresponding to 361 species were shared on the platform. The Pl@ntNet team included Daniel Barthélémy from CIRAD and Murielle Simo-Droissart from IRD.
